Save for the eczema I have on my neck and the back of some joints, I've had relatively good skin all my life - I get an occasional zit, but I've generally been quite happy with my facial shores. I love my Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser, their Daily Microfoliant and I swear by my Sampar eye cream. I very rarely get a facial, only before a big event - a wedding in the family, for example.

Recently, after heaps of research and going back-and-forth on whether or not I wanted to fork out moolah for it, I was surprised with the gift of good skin - the Clarisonic Mia.

Think of the Clarisonic models as a giant electric toothbrush - it generally works the same way - you move the Clarisonic Mia [or other Clarisonic models] in circular motion around your face for a minute.

According to the Clarisonic website:

Used and recommended by spas and dermatologists, Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing Systems use a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to gently, yet thoroughly remove 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone. Cleaner skin is the first step toward healthier skin. And healthier skin is smoother, more radiant and more beautiful.

Sonic Cleansing Benefits:

  • Removes 6X more makeup than manual cleansing
  • Leaves skin feeling and looking smoother
  • Removes impurities that keep creams and serums from working their best
  • Gentle enough to use twice a day
  • Reduces oily areas, dry skin patches and blemishes
  • Minimizes the appearance of visible pores
And this magical oversized electric toothbrush WORKS. I have clogged pores on my nose and on my chin despite my Daily Microfoliant efforts - and it has visibly diminished in the past two weeks that I have been using the Mia.

And like any electric toothbrush, you can use your normal cleanser to work it.

All you have to do is wet your skin, slather your cleanser on to your skin, and let Clarisonic do the magic!

Here I am post-shower, wrapped in my IKEA towel:

I LOVE IT. My skin feels incredibly clean - I use it twice a day every day for a minute each [it switches off automatically after a minute]. I charge it once when I first bought it for a full 24 hours and I haven't charged it since, and it's been two weeks. It's a gem - everybody should have it.

You can buy the Clarisonic Mia off Bloomingdales' for USD$119 and they ship to Singapore! If you get it in Sephora Singapore, it will set you back $240, if I remember it right.

There are also other Clarisonic systems - the Mia 2 [same size as the Mia but has two speeds], the Classic [the original bigass one], the PLUS [which you can use for your body as well], but if you're looking to use it for your face, and you want to bring it to travel, the Clarisonic Mia has got to be the best!

I think it's a great investment for people [like me] who don't bother going for facials frequently, and who likes quick, easy skincare solutions - c'mon, my face is not that big - I don't understand three-hour facials. I just end up snoring in the treatment room. Classy, no? ;o)

Anybody else has this magical electronic toothbrush? Waddya think?
